Why Attend?

The 7th Insurance Linked Securities Summit is the largest and only global ILS event, with investors, brokers, insurers & reinsurers from the US, Bermuda, UK, Europe, Australia, and Asia-Pacific.

Due to the overwhelming interest in both sides of the market (life and non-life) attendees will have access to a unique and fully customizable agenda with 2 dedicated tracks for Life and Non-Life markets.

Investing in Insurance Linked Securities is an attractive investment for an increasing number of investors because of its non-correlation with other markets - particularly stock markets. These investments allow insurance companies to reduce the amount of risk they are bearing, while at the same time giving the re-insurers and investors an opportunity to turn a lump sum of capital into a revenue stream through the collection of premium payments.

The ILS community has seen great changes and growth during the past year including:

(on the non-life side)
...following a brief hiatus in the global ILS market, there has been a rebound in 2009 with over $2 billion in new cat bonds issued and another $1 billion expected before the end of the year. The market has responded vigorously to the collateral challenges exposed by the Lehmans debacle, with triparty repo structures and government-guaranteed solutions finding their way into recent issuances. With a long-term solution to the collateral problem apparently in sight, industry participants are now focused on growing the ILS market in 2010.

(on the life side)
...there are still numerous headaches relating to the life expectancy changes of 2008, with many would-be investors still skeptical about the values of life settlement portfolios based on current LEs. At the same time, new regulatory and tax law changes have introduced burdens which participants are trying to solve in the most cost-effective way. However the market continues to innovate and expand, with new investment sources emerging in Asia and Latin America and new strategies being explored for life settlement portfolios. Some fund managers have found ways to expand the investor community by "fusing" policies with alternative asset classes to create hybrid investment products with distinct characteristics.
